Distortion for Zeiss Loxia 25mm f/2.4 Distagon
Distortion is barrel distortion, flattening out to no distortion i the extreme corners (effectively a slight wave inflection).
At about 1.3%, this level of distortion is significantly lower than the 1.6% wave-type distortion of the Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2 Distagaon and the 2% distortion of the Zeiss Milvus 25mm f/1.4. On the other hand, the Milvus has a 1 2/3 stops faster lens speed, so in that sense it is slightly disappointing: one might hpe for less than 1% distortion in an f/2.4 lens. Still, given the extremely high performance, it’s a very respectable showing.
Context: the about 1.3% distortion of the Loxia 25/2.4 is is a little more than the 1.0% distortion of the Leica 24mm f/3.8 Elmar-M ASPH but a lot less than the 2.2% distortion of the Leica 24mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH.
