Zeiss 35m f/1.4 Distagon T*

Portrait Examples

All examples on this page with the Canon 5D Mark II and a March 2011 production copy of the Zeiss ZE 35mm f/1.4 Distagon, one evening at dusk.

All images on this page were handheld, and focused with relatively dim light. Focus error and movement are all risks— don’t assess absolute sharpness with every image here.

Most were pushed by +1 stop and Highlights/Shadows used to reduce contrast. Noise is present, the usual ugly pattern noise from the Canon 5D Mark II.

Great focus on the eyes, with a really lovely dropoff to the background. Note the high color saturation and high contrast overall, a compelling combination.
