Sony A7R V: File Numbering — Resets to 0001 with each Focus Bracketing Series
I thought that Sony had done something right by offering a feature to create a new folder for every focus bracket series (for focus stacking).
OMG, was I wrong. Observe that the file numbers reset to 0001 with every series.
I often search for a raw file by its basename. This utterly destroys that and generates massive conflict and confusion. Imagine having 500 or 1000 files, all named _LLC0001.ARW.
I just can’t believe someone would do something this brain dead. But someone actually designed it this way. Well, back to the old way of doing it—manually creating my own folders, so as to avoid the issue.

I’m pretty sure this is the result of an optional setting Shooting>file>file/folder settings>forced File Number Reset
DIGLLOYD: unfortunately not, choices are: {
}. All that does is create a new folder *right now* and reset file numbers at that time. It is not a setting to apply for things, but an action to do right now.Does not affect focus bracketing numbering.Arrgh. I think you are right. The weird thing is that this setting will create a new folder with reset file numbers, but there is a seperate menu setting “Create new folder” at the same level as “fFle/folder settings” for actually creating a new folder (presumably without resetting the numbers.
It’s odd to have something in a submenu of “File folder SETTINGS” that is an action to create a new folder. I wonder if it’s a bug/menu glitch?
