Sony A1: both EVF and Rear LCD no issue with polarized sunglasses
One of the most infuriatingly bad designs you’ll find is a camera with a polarization problem, so that you cannot operate the camera with polarized sunglasses*.
Some users don’t shoot with sunglasses. I get that. But if you’re on snow or granite or beach, eyes are quickly fried without sunglasses. And because of glare as well as the desirability of seeing into water, anything non-polarized is a really bad choice.
So I just checked the Sony A1 and I was pleased to discover that both the EVF and the rear LCD show no darkening with polarized sunglasses either in landscape or portrait orientation. Well done Sony!
* The Leica SL comes to mind, and probably the Leica SL2 has the same issue since it seemingly has the same EVF. At least that’s my recollection.
