Reader Comment: Leica M10 Monochrom, Leica SL2

Just resubscribed to your full site this year, instead of just the L-mount section.
I sold my M bodies in the past, and bought a Leica SL2 to use with my M lenses (because of the EVF)... then before knowing it I had another 2 x M bodies (Leica M10M and Leica M10R) and a whole lot of SL glass! How did that all happen 🤷🏼♂️😂
I am reading through your comparisons between M10 Mono and M1IR, because i want to maybe get rid of some gear. Can't decide is the SL2 is a keeper either. Gee after reading some of your blog posts I almost wanted to sell all the Leica stuff.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
BTW your M10 Monochrome shots are incredible.
DIGLLOYD: make the decision on whether the cameras are serving to satisfaction + whether you are missing something that could be had on another platform + whether you are happy with the haptics/ergonomics (EVF, grip, size/weight, operational behaviors, buttons, etc). In practice the last one may be most important of all for some users—the feel and enjoyment of using it.
As for the Leica M10M pimples problem, it is subject-matter dependent, depending on micro contrast on certain kinds of detail. Already, legions of M10M users have debunked my proofs via the science of looking for lost keys under a street light, because the light is better there.
The M10M is a unique camera (the only monochrome sensor camera on the market). It can produce terrific-looking images, particularly at higher ISO values vs a color camera. But for myself, I consider the pimples unacceptable and they are found on all the images I shot on my trip—though it was all desert and snow and mountains type stuff. If you’re shooting other types of subject matter lacking the same micro contrast and/or dominated by smooth tones and/or with high ISO, concerns about the pimples might be muted since they won’t be seen unless the micro contrast its the mark.
