Thanksgiving is Once a Year, But...

Thanksgiving has become, to me, a time to give thanks at personal level. The commercialization and lemming parade is brainless stuff that bores me to tears in its banality. The family part is good but not the essence, although I do miss my family up here. If only daughter #3 would return emails. But teenagers are what they are.
While this year has put me under more duress than at any time in my life (in every way), I feel more thankful than ever, for the little things here and there. Like being (mostly) whole after my concussion, and yesterday’s fabulous hike to Dana Lakes. How many people get to ever experience that sort of day? Dang.
Thanksgiving is best celebrated every day because tomorrow might not come.. Like today waiting in line at the supermarket! But I am thankful that the store manager opened up another register, and that meant I had daylight to finish my driving.
It will be quiet and a little lonely up here (unlike 2015) but a dehydrated meal will be just fine (sweet and sour pork?), odd bird that I am that will be just fine.
I am thankful that the oncoming storm has blown away the acrid smoke form the Camp Fire which made its way as late as 9PM, but made life a godawful mess in the Bay Area the past week. The air is now awesomely fresh and clean—best in a month.
Ah, I hear the wind-blown snow hitting the van now, at 11600'.
