Pentax K1: Another Look at SuperRes vs StdRes
See my Pentax K1 wish list at B&H Photo.
I find the difference between the pixels of Pentax K1 SuperRes pixel shift mode vs conventional Bayer matrix imaging (StdRes) a fascinating thing.
This comparison evaluates SuperRes vs StdRes on an artificial subject. Shown below is the SupeRes variant.
SuperRes Pixel Shift vs StdRes: DEET and Kombucha Bottles
The difference appears to equate to about a 50% difference in linear resolving power: a 36 megapixel sensor in SuperRes mode acting more like a 54 megapixel Bayer sensor. But the effects are more than that, involving a sense of real-ness that the StdRes image lacks.
