Zeiss ZF.2 135mm f/2 APO-Sonnar Adapted for use on Leica M Typ 240
In Guide to Zeiss the Zeiss ZF.2 135mm f/2 APO-Sonnar proves its outstanding optical prowess once again, this time on the 24-megapixel Leica M Typ 240.
One of the advantages of the Zeiss ZF.2 Nikon-mount lenses is that they can be adapted for use on many different cameras: Canon, various mirrorless options, video cameras of various types, and now the Leica M Typ 240 (focusing viable with Live View).
The ZF.2 lenses have a manual aperture ring in addition to electronic control (that manual ring to control the aperture does not exist on Zeiss ZE lenses for Canon).
Part of showing lens performance for Zeiss DSLR lenses is showing it on different cameras, Nikon and Canon mainly, but now also the Leica M Typ 240, using the Novoflex NOLEMNIKNT Lens Adapter for Nikon Lens to Leica M. However:
The existence of a lens adapter does not migrate a Zeiss lens out of Guide to Zeiss*. It is about the lens performance, not any specific camera.
* The “home” for “cross platform” evaluations of lenses belonging to a clearly defined lens guide is that guide: the home for a Zeiss DSLR lens is Guide to Zeiss. The home for a Leica lens is Guide to Leica, and for the various mirrorless lenses, Guide to Mirrorless. For Nikon and Canon mount lenses, DAP.
This policy benefits readers by keeping each guide focused and coherent, but equally important is the long-term business viability of each publication, which must stand on its own; Zeiss and Leica in particular require large capital outlays due to the very high gear costs, gear which must be purchased in order to provide the in-depth and ongoing quality coverage in each publication.
