Voigtlander Color Skopar 28mm f/2.8 SL II for Nikon and Canon (and Mirrorless too)
Voigtlander makes a line of SLR lenses for Nikon and Canon, reviewed in DAP.
The latest addition is the new Color Skopar 28mm f/2.8 SL II, a diminutive “pancake” lens. I’ll be testing the Voigtlander 28/2.8 soon, with a review to follow in DAP.
As an f/2.8 lens, I expect fairly high performance, though with only 7 elements, it cannot be corrected for all issues, some compromises must be made to manage its very small size.
Stephen Gandy over at CameraQuest.com has the 28/2.8 available, which is where I got mine.
The Nikon version weights in at a featherweight 180g (very light considering its metal construction), with the Canon version substantially heavier at 230g.
Possible lens for mirrorless? Olympus, Fuji, etc.
It will be interested to see if this might make a nice compact lens for mirrorless cameras; on Micro Four Thirds it would be a ~56mm lens in field of view, or 42mm on APS-C cameras. Of course you’d want to buy the Nikon version for its manual aperture ring.
