Reader Feedback on Zeiss, Nikon Portraits, Review Approach
Reader Adam M writes:
Wow! You missed your calling – I love your recent Zeiss and Nikon 35mm portrait series. Wonderful pictures, posed but not stiff, with a blend of backgrounds and shooting distances. Truly refreshing.
I also wanted to mention that I enjoy your free-form thoughts on lenses more than your technical tests. It is important and proper that you conduct technical tests, and from a transparency and credibility perspective, I think it is also helpful that you make your raw data available to others. But to be honest, I do not wish to conduct my own analysis, I want to read yours. Lazy? Perhaps, but there is more to it. In short, I do not plan on buying most of the lenses you review because it would be financially irresponsible for me to do so. I subscribe to your DAP and Zeiss lens offerings not for buying advice, but because I enjoy reading your thoughts. Your website is not a means to an end for me, it is the end itself. (Nonetheless, I assume many of your subscribers are people who own or are considering the purchase of a Zeiss lens, so I understand why you have taken the approach you do.)
